FANA was pleased to have Mr. Greg Efta, President, Performance Innovations, Longwood, FL, present our educational programs for this convention. Mr. Efta has 17 years experience in health care consulting and leadership, working nationally with hundreds of health care and human resource organizations in numerous state and national health care and related associations. Mr. Efta's fun and energy filled presentations will help us all to meet the challenges of our changing healthcare industry.

Mr. Efta shared some excellent comments on evaluations. He was fun, interactive, educational, and shared many personal stories to bring his points across.

Awards

The Nurse Assistant of the Year was Denise Anderson, CNA/HHA of the Heartland Home Health, Sebring, Florida. Denise is shown below (totally overcome with emotion) in the middle. To her left is her nominee Barbara McGriff of Lake Placid Health Care congratulating her, and to her right is Reatha Henry, nurse assistant of the year 1997.

An excerpt from the letter of nomination for the award by Becky McIntyre, RN, Director of Private Services for the Heartland Home Health Agency is given below:

"This letter is being sent in order to nominate Denise Anderson, CNA/HHA for Nursing Assistant of the Year. Denise has worked for Heartland Home Health Agency since 1997. Denise has been a Nursing Assistant since 1975 and has worked in both hospital and home health care settings. I do not have enough room on this paper to tell you about Denise. She provides extraordinary care to her clients by remembering that they are real people with real emotions along with their illnesses. She volunteers to cover for other employees that may have emergency situations occurring in their lives. She also follows up with them with encouraging telephone calls. Denise attends every inservice that is offered and often attends other educational activities on her own to further her education in the health care field. Denise displays a professional appearance and is always within the acceptable dress code."

Congratulations Denise!

The Career Nurse Assistant Award was presented to Farrah Davis, CNA of Delta Health Care, Tampa, Florida. Farrah is shown below accepting her award from Terry Bucher.

An excerpt from the nomination letter for Farrah Davis, from Kim Setzer, B.S.W., Director of Social Services at Delta Health Care Center of Tampa is given below:

"Farrah is a great asset to our company. She is looked upon as a Senior CNA and shares her vast experiences with others. She leads by example and trains others to become team players. She never calls in and without hesitation will float to another floor or assignment and if needed will come in on her day off. If another employee has a tragedy in their life, Farrah is the first one to start up a collection to help out her fellow co-workers. Farrah is also very thoughtful and never forgets others birthdays. Farrah IS customer service and a Social Workers dream to work with."

Congratulations Farrah!
